Continental Shakedown started in 2015 when Ken Goodman (guitars/vocals) and Charlie Bradbury (bass/vocals) spun off from a pop/rock band they were playing in, to go in a more blues/classic rock direction. Ken had extensive experience playing Southern Rock and blues in prior bands; Charlie had a classic country background. These 2 are still the backbone of the band having developed a vocal harmony and instrumental bond after over 700 gigs together.
For 8 years Continental was a classic power trio on the tradition of Cream/Hendrix/ZZ Top. Both Ken and Charlie are nominees for the 2026 Maine Blues Society Hall of Fame, and will occasionally perform as an acoustic duo.
After their original drummer moved on to another project, the duo were fortunate to add drummer Lane Kaplan. Another veteran of the local scene, Lane can swing one minute and rock hard the next, helping Shakedown’s versatility. Lane is a current Maine Country Music Hall of Fame recipient.
After reconnecting with Ken at a jam session in Spring 2023, well known Maine sax/harmonica/vocal powerhouse Dave Wakefield sat in for a couple gigs and has been a regular member ever since. Dave is a member of the Biddeford/Saco Music Hall of Fame and recently released his 2nd full length CD. With Dave on board, Continental Shakedown can turn on a dime…Classic and Southern Rock, Texas Blues, Chicago Blues, Rockabilly, Reggae, classic Country, Grateful Dead style jams… all highly danceable with instrumental prowess and tight 3 part harmonies, with professional sound and lighting production. From dive bars to Blues Festivals, weddings to Fairs and everything in between, Continental Shakedown has the goods to fit the occasion.
